The Forbidden Elevator » 5
I had to venture forwards...or might I say down the stairs. I had to...there was no turning back, not even if I wanted to. After some beating on the wall (where the elevator should have been) for some time I finally decided to make the descent down the stairs. I held the book out and flipped through it one more time just to make sure it was blank and it was. With a sigh I took the first step down and as I did I felt something brush on my back. I jumped forwards and spun around shouting, "Who goes there?" To my joy there was nothing there, but to my dismay there was a door sealing shut so that I had to go farther down the stairs. As I descended down more and more doors sealed up behind me. I decided to count how many stairs I could walk down before a door sealed shut and I found that there was a door at every twenty-five steps.
'Weird that they would seal all this up,' I thought. 'You'd think that sealing the elevator off would be enough.'
An hour or more had passed. I had lost track of the time but it seemed like forever. Every time I thought the stairs were going to level off and end I just continued walking and walking and walking until finally I screamed and threw myself down.
"Why?" I shouted. "Why did I have to come here? I could've just eaten my lasagna. But no. I had to...I just had to!" I felt tears run down my face. Hot, salty, wet tears. "Why?"
"You have been granted access to the world," a loud booming voice echoed up the stairs.
I looked up puzzled. Was I going insane or had a loud voice just told me I was granted access off of this stairhell?
"Stand," the voice came again, "and walk forwards. In about three steps you will fall and find yourself in a world that is hopefully your world. Please do not scream."
I stood and stepped forwards. Nothing happened and then...
