The old librarian patiently waited as Bon Vendel descended down the podium.  When the court master's feet touched the tiled ground the librarian strode towards him and nodded first at the book then the podium. "You swore you would never again call me Phin," the librarian said.
"Until the day when I could trust you again," Bon Vendel smiled.  "I just never knew this day would come here on Earth.  I always thought it would be there," he pointed up, "in heaven.  But alas! You are alive!"
    "Yes, I am old friend."
    The two hugged.
"You must destroy the boy's book, though, Phin. With it this world will be destroyed.  The laws scattered so much that it will be impossible to make our own laws. Destroy it and I promise changes will be made."
"But will they be our, the people's changes, or your changes?" the librarian asked.
The court master smiled.  "The people's."
The old librarian turned away from Bon Vendel towards Nera and me. He nodded quickly at us so that it would be hard for Bon Vendel to notice what was going on and then he walked towards the doors at the back of the courtroom. When he reached them he turned and shouted, "The world is in my hands!" Then he opened the doors and left.
Bon Vendel walked towards Nera and told her that she may leave, but he told me to stay.
     "Why?" I asked.
The old man turned and glared.  "Why?  Why you are an alien to us.  Changes have not been made yet.   Your fate rests in Phin's hands.  When he makes his decision your decision will also be made.  But for now..." a broad evil smile spread across his face.  "Lock him up!"
I turned to run out the doors with Nera but found my way blocked.  Nera obviously heard the commotion because she rushed back in only to be seized and drug back out.
